Chiropractic FAQ’s

Q: What conditions do Chiropractors treat?

A: Chiropractors are especially well known for their expertise in caring for patients with back pain, neck pain and headaches. They also care for patients with a wide range of injuries and disorders of the musculoskeletal system, involving the muscles, ligaments and joints. Chiropractors can also counsel patients on diet, nutrition, exercise, healthy habits, and occupational and lifestyle modification.

Q: Is chiropractic treatment dangerous?

A: The short answer is no! Most significant adverse events occur because they have been developing for many years. Adverse events occur in less than 1% or patients.

Q: Why does Balanced not perform imaging on everyone?

A: Imaging is not needed to treat underlying conditions. It should only be used to rule out potentially serious conditions. There is little to no association between pain and dysfunction and imaging results in most cases. Posture is different for everyone; there is no correct posture.  We have adopted the Choosing Wisely imaging recommendations.

Q: Do I need a referral for chiropractic?

A: No referral is needed in Virginia. You can call to make an appointment today!

Q: Will my insurance cover my visits?

A: We are in-network with many insurances. Check out our payments page to see if we accept your insurance. If we do not, we will make every effort to make your care affordable.

Q: What does treatment consist of?

A: Treatment is based on individual cases. Some cases may involve adjustments only, but it is more common in our clinic to see a variety of treatments per case. More comprehensive and challenging cases may involve adjustments as well as therapeutic exercise, soft tissue work, and other modalities.
