About Dr. Brown
David
E. Brown, D.C., received his B.A. in 1977 from the University of
Virginia, and his chiropractic degree in 1981 from Western States
Chiropractic College in Portland, Oregon. Dr. Brown has been in
full-time practice in Charlottesville, Virginia since 1982.
Dr. Brown has been very active in the Chiropractic profession. He
served as the chiropractic member of the Virginia Board of Medicine
from 1989 until 1997, and is a former president of the Federation of
Chiropractic Licensing Boards. He was a member of the board of
directors of the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners from 1997
until 2001. Dr. Brown is the first chiropractic member of the
Sportsmedicine Committee of the Virginia High School League. He is a
fellow of both the American College of Chiropractic and the
International College of Chiropractic. He is certified by the American
Board of Independent Medical Examiners, and currently serves on their
Board of Advisors. Dr. Brown has lectured on manipulation and back pain
to numerous departments at the University of Virginia Medical Center,
and has spoken at numerous conferences including ones sponsored by the
Council on Licensure, Enforcement and Regulation, the Federation of
Associations of Regulatory Boards, the Virginia Association of Defense
Attorneys, the University of Virginia and the Medical College of
Virginia.
Dr. Brown is also very active in the Charlottesville community. He was elected to Charlottesville City Council in 2004 and currently serves as Mayor. He has served on the boards of several local
organizations, including Offender Aid and Restoration, the Region Ten
Community Services Board and the Charlottesville Track Club. He has
been a youth soccer coach since 1995, and from 2000 - 2003 was the
Outreach Coordinator of the Soccer Organization of
Charlottesville-Albemarle, making soccer available to children from
public housing neighborhoods in Charlottesville. He and his wife Jean Hiatt have been married for 26 years, and have two sons - Greg, who just finished his second year at Earlham College in Richmond, Indiana, and Evans, who begins at Macalester College in Saint Paul, Minnesota this fall.
